Nas talks about when he fell in love with mixtapes…back when mixtapes were legit tapes, casette tapes. It’s a little over my head but I remember making mixtapes like he talks about for my 5th grade art class. The teacher would let us play whatever music we wanted but someone had to actually dub a casette to bring it in and me and this kid Mike were the only ones who would ever do it. I remember putting a bunch of Beastie Boys and stuff on those tapes. I probably put a bunch of Nas on there too.

It’s crazy to think about how music went from casettes to CDs to completely digital. Nas talks about how his mind was blown about how sound was actually embedded on a ribbon, “there’s science going on in there” he says. It’s even crazier to think that we evolved past that like three times over, and there’s no end in sight.
